Pazo Pondal Leira Albarino, Rias Baixas, Spain

The grapes selected for Leira Pondal come from the vineyards of El Rañado, Torre and El Alto. They are the highest altitude vineyards, with lower humidity, more ventilated and with the greatest difference in temperature between day and night.

As a result, a slower maturation is obtained and wines with more aromatic intensity, with a higher touch of acidity, lighter and fresher on the palate. The plots are planted in a trellis system oriented to the north and south-east.

Their situation allows them to be always ventilated and bathed by the sun's rays, guaranteeing the quality and optimum maturity of their bunches. These plots were harvested on September 28, 29 and 30. The soils of these plots have a PH of between 6.4 and 6.2. The soils have a high content of organic matter that compensates for the shallow depth of the ground (30-40 cm) and improves the retention of water and nutrients.

TASTING NOTES

Intense and complex nose where floral and menthol notes very characteristic of our vineyards appear, are also combined with an elegant mineral note, as well as citrus and white fruit touches. The palate is medium-bodied sweet, while fresh, fruity notes and very nice balsamic notes, which give a long and pleasant finish. It combines well with fish, seafood and sushi, as well as pasta and white meats.
